Underwater boat cleaning offers numerous benefits that significantly enhance the performance and longevity of your vessel. Regular cleaning removes marine growth, such as barnacles and algae, which helps maintain fuel efficiency and optimal boat speed while reducing the risk of corrosion and damage to critical components like the hull, propellers, and shafts. This preventive maintenance is especially important in warm waters like South Florida, where marine growth accumulates quickly. While many boat owners focus on cleaning the topside, the bottom half can be more challenging without the right equipment and work ethic. Professional underwater boat cleaning ensures thorough maintenance, protecting your investment and prolonging the life of your vessel by keeping it in top condition.
Neglecting to clean the bottom of your boat in South Florida can lead to serious issues due to the warm, nutrient-rich waters. Marine growth, such as barnacles, algae, and other organisms, will accumulate quickly on the hull and running gear. This growth creates drag, reducing your boat's fuel efficiency and slowing its speed. Over time, the buildup can damage the hull’s surface, leading to costly repairs. In addition, marine growth on running gear like propellers and shafts can cause vibration and reduced performance, potentially leading to mechanical failures. Regular bottom cleaning ensures that your boat operates efficiently, remains protected from damage, and helps avoid costly repairs in the long run.

Benefits of monthly cleaning!
Fuel Efficiency
The accumulation of marine growth on the hull of a boat or yacht can create drag and increase resistance in the water. This results in reduced fuel efficiency and increased fuel consumption.
Your boat will burn more fuel when it can't move as easily through the water due to resistance created by marine growth. Regularly scheduled hull cleaning eliminates excess resistance created by the build-up of marine growth. This leads to a smoother hull and better fuel economy.
Performance
A clean hull improves the speed and overall performance of a boat or ship. By reducing drag, the vessel can achieve higher speeds and maneuver more easily.
Boats are designed to be hydrodynamic, meaning they're built to move quickly through the water. Drag created by marine growth will affect the ease at which your boat is intended to move. Having your boat's bottom cleaned on a regularly scheduled basis will keep it free of drag creating marine growth that slows it down. This allows it to move smoothly through the water at optimal speed and ease at all times.
Longevity
Keeping intakes free from marine growth with regularly scheduled cleanings helps to ensure proper water flow and could help to avoid costly maintenance issues.
Additional systems such as air conditioners, generators, water makers, ice makers, chillers, live wells, etc., require adequate water flow to properly function. If through-hull fittings and intakes are not properly maintained, barnacles and other marine growth will reduce or restrict water flow, causing systems to work harder, overheat, or shut down. Transducers that are fouled with marine growth could give inaccurate readings.
